Overcoming the Wiles of the Enemy – Part II

It’s far simpler to follow a set of rules and regulations than to follow the will of God in our hearts. Following His will requires us to put down our will the same way that Jesus put down His own will. We must also confess that we cannot follow His will in our own strength, but instead ask for strength and guidance from the Lord – we just need to be willing.

It’s important to remember that the enemy can only attack things of the flesh – he can’t take away the love from our hearts. By denying ourselves, we remove an avenue of attack. It’s in our nature to find something we want and to go after it, not to deny our flesh. If we cling too tightly to fleshly, worldly things, we will lose them anyway and suffer great harm, just like the people in Noah’s day.

We need to truly fall in love with Jesus in order to do His will. If we’re not in love with Him, then we will always be seeking after our own desires.

Key Scriptures: Luke 14:25-33, Luke 17:20-37, 2 Corinthians 5:12-17, 1 John 2:15-17
