The Seven Churches of Revelation – Part VII

The Church of the Laodiceans

  • The Lukewarm church
    • They were neither hot nor cold about their faith.
    • They were largely indifferent towards God – probably only thinking about Him when they were in trouble.
  • Many think this represents the last day church
  • The church is called to be the ambassadors for Christ.
    • He will take care of His ambassadors, making provision.
    • He won’t take care of those who are lukewarm, selfish Christians.
  • The Lukewarm church didn’t realize they had need of anything
    • They thought that because they were well off materially, they didn’t need God for anything.
    • When Gideon went to battle, he had his men put torches inside of clay pots. At the critical moment, they broke the pots and their lights shone, driving the enemy into chaos and winning the battle.
      • Our lights won’t shine outwardly until we are broken.
      • Until we are broken, we will never acknowledge our needs.
    • The Lukewarm church isn’t bothered by the darkness anymore.
  • The Church on fire will be interceding before the Lord for the nation.
    • If our nation falls into complete turmoil, it will impact the church.
    • We fight the spiritual warfare through prayer and fasting, not with protests and demonstrations.
  • Confess and repent of lukewarmness to bring forgiveness and healing!
