Worshipping God in the Prison / Sin – Part III

Worshipping God in Prison

Paul and Silas were imprisoned in Philippi for setting a demon-possessed girl free. Instead of feeling sorry for themselves, they spent their time in prison worshipping and praying to God. Their worship was heard by the other prisoners – they didn’t sound like everybody else. As they worshipped and gave glory to God, He shook the very foundations of the prison apart with an earthquake and brought deliverance.

This applies to us today. Other people see and hear what we say and do when we’re in trouble. Will they hear something different than everyone else and listen, or will they hear more of the same? If we will worship in the midst of our circumstances, in our prisons, we will see God’s deliverance. As with the Philippian prison, His great deliverance in our life will affect those who are around us as well as benefiting our lives.

Key Scriptures: Acts 16:25-26

Sin – Part III

The Law brings death not because it is evil, (God’s commands are all good), but because we are unable to follow them in our own strength. If we try to win the war over sin in our own flesh we will fail. It is only through Jesus that we can be victorious.

Key Scriptures: Romans 7:13 – 25
