Christ-Centered Intimacy – Apostle Epps

The Lord wants to demonstrate Himself in our lives and then to set us in the midst of others so that He can demonstrate Himself to others. We are victorious, regardless of our circumstances. Until His return, there will always be areas in our lives that God wishes to demonstrate in. The challenges in life are not intended to shame, hurt or cripple us, but to allow Him opportunities to move in our lives.

Everything we receive from God comes from His promises. The Word surrounding a promise must be alive in our spirits in order to receive that promise. The Word will swallow up the darkness – as it comes alive, we go from a position of believing that God can to knowing that He will.

He is calling us to a living expression of the Word, not just a dutiful confession. Only though living expression will be be able to effect the change on the earth that He desires. God’s promises are declarations of what He will or will not do.

While waiting on the promises of God, we need to not get hung up on details of how He will do it – we need to just be assured that He will do it. If we focus on the details, we give the enemy opportunities to distract and dismay us. We need to follow the instructions as God gives them to us. When we do things our way, we are saying that we have a better way than God’s way.

God requires a progression of faith – the faith that we used to get through yesterday won’t get us through tomorrow.

Our attitudes are key. We can’t be complaining about our circumstances – we need to be thankful for them and on the lookout for things to break and disrupt in the enemy’s kingdom.

Prayer produces intimacy, with the one to whom you pray and with the ones for whom you pray. Dedicate the time every day to pray in order to build the intimacy with God. We cannot help others if our own relationship with God is not in good shape.

Godly thinking -> Godly focus -> Speaking God’s Word -> Good Success; Ungodly thinking -> incorrect focus -> incorrect speech.

He desires for us to deal with challenges now, in order to provide opportunities to mitigate pain and suffering. Not dealing with things up front  means that we will pay far more than we will need to.

We are called to be the difference in a situation. The difference in our lives is our intimacy with Jesus. Like the early apostles, people should know that we fellowship and have a relationship with Jesus. We’re never going to fit in with the world – we shouldn’t strive to. We should just be ourselves.
