{"id":882,"date":"2019-09-22T11:19:03","date_gmt":"2019-09-22T15:19:03","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.newhopeforlife.org\/?p=882"},"modified":"2019-10-06T09:27:25","modified_gmt":"2019-10-06T13:27:25","slug":"waiting-effectively","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"http:\/\/www.newhopeforlife.org\/2019\/09\/22\/waiting-effectively\/","title":{"rendered":"Waiting Effectively"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"http:\/\/www.newhopeforlife.org\/wp\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/10\/9-22-19-v2.mp3\"><\/audio><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>There are times when waiting is required to receive from the Lord\n<\/li><li>Mark 4:26-32\n<ul><li>Two separate times, Jesus compares the Kingdom of God to planting seeds\n<\/li><li>This is how God\u2019s kingdom functions &#8211; sowing and reaping; seed time and harvest.\n<ul><li>Some seeds take longer than others to grow.\n<\/li><li>How much time elapsed between Genesis 3 and Matthew 1?\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>He never compared the kingdom to a microwave\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>How we go about the waiting will determine whether it destroys us or helps us to grow\n<ul><li>Isaiah 40:30-31\n<ul><li>Youths and young men represent those with physical strength and endurance.\n<ul><li>If we try to endure the time of waiting and testing in our own strength, we will faint\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>The Hebrew word for wait means to wait for and hope.\n<\/li><li>Wait with an expectation that the Lord will do what He promised to do.\n<\/li><li>Mount up with wings like eagles\n<ul><li>Eagles are often found flying around mountains. The terrain of the mountains provides updrafts that they can use to soar.\n<\/li><li>The mountains in our own lives can become opportunities for us to soar.\n<ul><li>The eagle depends upon the wind and the currents to get himself airborne.\n<\/li><li>We depend upon the Lord to get ourselves airborne. The mountains in our lives are where some of the best spiritual updrafts can be found.\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Don\u2019t be passive about waiting\n<ul><li>Imagine you plant a garden\n<ul><li>You never weed it\n<\/li><li>You never water it\n<\/li><li>You don\u2019t fertilize it\n<\/li><li>What happens?\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Just passively waiting will cause the storms and circumstances to destroy you.\n<\/li><li>Actively waiting on the Lord is not trying to fix everything yourself either.\n<ul><li>We are not capable of resolving our problems in our own strength.\n<\/li><li>Ephesians 6:13-18\n<ul><li>Put on the armor of God\n<\/li><li>\u201cHaving done all\u2026\u201d &#8211; do the things that you know to do\n<ul><li>The things that you know to do should line up with the Word of God.\n<\/li><li>Don\u2019t do anything out of fear or worry &#8211; do everything in faith.\n<\/li><li>James 1:5 &#8211; ask the Lord for wisdom in these situations. Ask Him to reveal to you if there\u2019s anything else you should be doing in addition to what you already knew to do!\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Stand &#8211; once you have done the things that you know to do, stand firm with hope and with expectation\n<\/li><li>The Sword of the Spirit\n<ul><li>Find and speak the Word of God as it pertains to your situation\n<\/li><li>Seek out God\u2019s promises for whatever your need is.\n<\/li><li>Meditate on the Word day and night (Joshua 1:8)\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Raise the Shield of Faith\n<ul><li>During the times of waiting is when the enemy will launch his darts at you.&nbsp;\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>Put on the Helmet of Salvation\n<ul><li>Guard your eyes and ears with the Word\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>1 Peter 5:8-10\n<ul><li>The enemy is going to roar at you.\n<\/li><li>He is going to try to get you to move &amp; stop waiting on the Lord. He will do his best to convince you that it is imperative to move on your own and try to fix it.\n<ul><li>See Abraham in Genesis 16\n<\/li><\/ul><\/li><li>\u201cResist him, steadfast in the faith&#8221;\n<ul><li>Submit to God &#8211; James 4:8\n<\/li><li>Continue to seek the voice of the Lord during the wait, no matter the pressure.\n<\/li><li>Remember, His voice is a still small voice &#8211; putting away distractions is key to hearing it (1 Kings 19:11-12)\n<\/li><li>This is the battle during the wait.
