Remember that God is an all-powerful, all-seeing and all-knowing God who cares about all the things that go on in our lives. The purpose of Jesus’ letters to the seven churches in Asia is to bring loving correction to them in order to help them to become more like Him.
The Church at Pergamos
- The compromising church
- Compromise: To accept standards that are lower than desirable
- This church was incorporating pagan religious traditions from the city around them, hence lowering their standards.
- God knows where we live
- Are our homes dens of Satan or a houses of God?
- What comes out of our mouths? Are we speaking blessings or curses?
- We need to repent of our compromises!
- We need to admit that we’ve missed the mark, and ask His forgiveness.
- The Holy Spirit will help bring our lives into alignment with Him.
- We have to desire to be like Him
- We have to stop making excuses as to why we can’t be like Him
