The Holy Spirit brings us true freedom. This freedom doesn’t mean freedom to always do whatever we want, but rather the freedom to choose life over death. We are free from bondage – no one can force us to stay in sin or walk the path of death.
How much value do we place on our relationship with the Holy Spirit? Do we desire a strong relationship with Him, or one in name only? If we have a marital relationship that we do not value, we will inevitably commit adultery. It’s the same with the Holy Spirit. If we don’t value a relationship with Him, we will commit spiritual adultery, also known as backsliding. The Holy Spirit will let us go, if we don’t value Him – He won’t force us to stay.
