Even when we are born again, there can be darkness in our lives. The darkness is anything that has not been turned over to the Lord. He will expose dark things in our lives when He wants to deal with them and correct them. Being led by the Spirit of God will allow Him to bring those dark things to light so that they can be dealt with.
We are light in our spirits, but our minds are not always renewed and in many cases remain in darkness. We need to be continually filled with the Spirit – once is not enough. How do we get refilled?
- Ask the Lord to continue to fill us. We won’t have if we don’t ask!
- Seek the Kingdom of God – strive after it. Understand what the kingdom is – it is the dominion of the King in our lives. Seeking the Kingdom brings grace and mercy. We have the grace to fulfill the command and the mercy when we mess up.
- Obey the Lord. This can only happen when we are led by the Spirit. No flesh can survive in the presence of God, nor can we obey Him successfully in the flesh.
