The saints will be part of the armies of heaven, following Jesus back to earth on white horses at the end of the Tribulation. What exactly will we be riding back into? We will have just spent seven years in the presence of God, engrossed in His goodness and then suddenly we will be returning to a world where evil has been unchecked during that time.
The earth will have been devastated by wars (including the war prophesied in Ezekiel 38), plagues and famines. Approximately three quarters of the pre-tribualtion population will have been killed.
