What are the focal points of our Jesus-centered celebration of Christmas?
-
- The birth of Christ: His birth on this earth meant that we were able to be born again ourselves. When He was born, he was called Immanuel – God is with us.
- Wise men: We can be the wise men when we follow His commands.
- Angels: They are there to minister to us. We also never know when we may encounter them and should entertain them.
- A Tree: The Christmas tree is symbolic of the cross. Scripture refers to the cross as a tree. We put lights on the tree – Christ is the light of the world. Red decorations on the tree symbolize the blood of Christ, which washes all our sins away.
- Exchange of Gifts: Jesus gives us many good gifts:
- Grace & truth
- Living Water
- The Holy Spirit
- The perfect example
- His Word
- His glory
- True bread
- Eternal life
In exchange, He wants our bodies & lives as gifts.
- Family
- New Beginnings
