Understanding the power that is in the name of Jesus is key to living in God’s abundant life. The powers of darkness are terrified of the name of Jesus and will do what they can to prevent it from being spoken. The Sanhedrin threatened the Apostles with prison and beatings for speaking Jesus’ name and performing miracles in His name.
The Lord’s name is a tower. A tower represents safety and protection. Jesus has given us the right to use His name for our protection. His name is also the essence of the armor of God. It is how we prepare ourselves for and win spiritual battles.
The name of Jesus is also how our needs are met. It’s in His name that we are able to come to the Father and bring our petitions to Him. If we got to the Father in the name of Jesus, in faith and ask according to His word, He will grant whatever we ask.
The name of Jesus brings us peace. He commanded us to not be worried or troubled, and He assured us that He would return for us.
His name is our source of authority as well. That name gives us the authority over the forces of Satan, the worldly system and our own flesh. Without the authority that comes from His name, we don’t have any power. To exercise this power and authority, we cannot allow doubt into our hearts. We also need to understand what it means to be under authority before we are able to exercise authority.
