God has a desire for our lives to be well ordered and not chaotic. Considering how great and majestic He is, we can wonder why He is interested in our lives. As David asked, “who am I that You are mindful of me?” In fact, the Lord is the one who formed us in the womb. He made each of us with a purpose, and places us each where He wants to put us to fulfill a purpose. He watches over every area of our live, He keeps His hand upon us to lead us and guide us. The hand of the Lord is what keeps us from falling and enables us to do all things. His purpose for creating us and the reason He concerns Himself with our lives so much is so that He can dwell in us. The thoughts that He has for us are innumerable. He thinks about us constantly, and He thinks thoughts of peace toward us. He thinks about giving us a future and a hope.
The Lord completes what He begins. Even though our lives may not be in perfect order, God continues to work and build. He tears down things that need to be torn down and rebuilds them as necessary. It may not always be pleasant for us, but it is essential. He sees the finished product, not the finishing process. Our confession needs to be about the finished product, not about what we go through to get there. No one in heaven or earth can stop God’s work in our lives. We can, however, slow down His work in our lives by our choices and actions. When that happens, the Lord may have to deal with us in a way we don’t like.
