I Stand at the Door Knocking

Jesus was speaking to the church when He said that He stands at the door knocking. Notice the first word of Revelation 3:20 – “behold”. Jesus is saying that no one in the church is paying attention. The signs of Jesus’ return are present, but no one is paying attention. We get too easily distracted by things of the world, and think like the Laodiceans that because we are materially well off, we are alright. If He is knocking at the door, then Jesus isn’t giving up – He would only knock if there was a chance that the church will come to the door.

Today is the day of our visitation – open the door today, don’t wait until tomorrow. When He comes into our homes, we need to let Him stay, not ask Him to leave so that we can do what we want to do. Things change when He is invited to stay in our homes – see Zacchaeus.
