Life – Part II

It is important to remember that we are triune beings. We are spirits who have souls and live in bodies. When we make Christ our Lord, our spirit is renewed by the Spirit of God, but our souls undergo a process of being saved. It is, therefore, essential to be led by the Spirit, not the soul, in order to walk in the abundant life.

The Word tells us we inherit the promises through faith and patience. When we are led by the Spirit and realize that we are seated in heavenly places with Christ, we are in a place where time has no bearing on us. That makes it far simpler to have patience and endurance for the promises of God. When our minds are on things below, we find ourselves watching the clock, waiting for things to happen.

We all walk according to the flesh occasionally and follow the dictates of the soulish realm. The question is, how long do we stay there? Babies will stay carnally-minded for longer, thinking only of their own needs and wants. Mature Christians realize they have responsibilities beyond themselves, to care for their brothers and sisters, families, etc. As we grow up in Christ, we are spiritually-minded more of the time.

Life is in the Spirit, not the flesh. In order to please God we must believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently (consistently) seek Him. Pleasing God is a major component of true life.
