The worldly system will provide opposition to us when we walk after the Lord and seek His kingdom. The world tempts us with all sorts of things and pleasures. It tries to convince us that God is not able to take care of us down here and that we need to struggle and work to get what we want and need. It is a system that is designed to keep us in bondage to itself. Everything in the world falls into one of three categories: lust of the eyes, lust of the flesh or the pride of life. There is no life to be found in these, only bondage.
Just as the Egyptians were bearing down on the Israelites at the Red Sea, and it looked like no hope of escape, the world will do the same to us. It will try to drag us back into bondage by force. In both cases, the Lord will bring deliverance to us. He commanded Moses to take his rod and hold it over the sea and it parted. He commands us to take the Word and Spirit that He has given to us and use it. We have all the tools necessary for deliverance. We don’t need to cry out to God and beg for deliverance.
If we do not see the fullness of His blessings, we need to consider our ways. Are our hearts after Him, or are they after our own desires? If we place Him first in our lives, we will open up the doors for His blessing. This is key to avoiding the deception of the world. It’s not a matter of God failing to bless us, but rather a matter of us being out of position to receive the blessings and provisions.
